It all started in 2015 when Joe decided to build a porch swing for us in South Carolina.  We pulled some scrap wood out of a construction dumpster and Joe built the swing you see below.  It was a marvelous swing, and Jen being the entrepreneurial mind she is, decided for Joe that "We could sell these!" and thus started HenkelMade WoodCrafts.  Over the years, Jen continued to garner work with the exclamation of "It's my retirement plan for him!" commissioning Joe to make most of the items you can find in our "where we started section".​

When the Army moved us, Jen was still looking for a job. Again, with the entrepreneurial mindset, she thought "why not sell signs to supplement lost income", and thus the birth of the SignsCrafts part of our business began!  As Joe's time in the military came to an end, he started to proclaim "I'm ready to do this full time". So, in 2019 is when we went fuller force on the business.   Joe started school in January of 2020 to get a degree in Fine Wood Working as we continued to grow.​

In 2021 we met an amazing person named Gracie who convinced us that it would be  a good idea to vend at Colorado Springs Comic Con. That is when NerdCrafts really started even though it's been 3 years and were finally changing our name. At that show we had a couple styles of baby onesies, a few laser engraved signs, and our In Case of Dragons Shadow Box. Because of the love and support of all our customers, in January of 2024, Jen quit her full time job so that her and Joe could hit the ground running with HenkelMade.  In May of 2024 Joe completed his degree and we couldn't be happier with this new chapter in our life.
